Does back car lights and brake lights use same bulb?

generally same bulb, you can tell by seeing where the glow comes from. If the tail lights are on and you get a friend to operate the brake pedal and if the brighter glow comes from the same place, its will be one single bulb with a double filament. Usually the tail is 10watt and the brake 18watt.
