Why did i get fired from a mindless job?

i had a mindless job where i sat in a cubicle all day invoicing customers. i literally sat there copying some numbers from a piece of paper to a computer screen. i ended up getting fired just after two months. the hr department told me that i didn't meet the expectations of the company. this makes no sense to me.
