98 Honda Civic EX: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON?

After searching auto zone, there is no listing for an MAF. so i would conclude that the vehicle is not equiped for one. so, on with it. 1st, check the ECM fuses and replace as needed. 2nd, check the ALDL connecter for damaged wires all the way to the computer. if your scan tool still wont communicate, you may need to change the computer. it may have been damaged when the car was stolen. you must be able to communicate with the computer in order to fix certain issues. last but not least, if your vehicle is equiped with a anti theft system, it could lock out the computer. check to see if your anti theft light is on or flashing with the engine running. if so, you will need to take the vehicle to the dealer for that issue.
